The crisp, cool air of Fall paired with sunny days and a Pumpkin Spiced Latté make Fall probably the most liked season of all. If Fall was on Facebook, she’d probably have the most followers. Everyone would like her posts and constantly ask where she was getting all her great outfits from.
Fall is also one of the most romantic times in New York City and perhaps the best time to start a serious relationship. After spending summer traveling and experiencing a more relaxed way of being, Fall seems to enter and kick us all into shape. It’s warm enough to explore the outdoors and just cool enough to cozy on up at home. Here in the office, we get the inside scoop on the best date ideas and adventures straight from our clients and members.
That’s why we wanted to spread the Fall love and give you the most interesting, romantic, and outside-the-box ideas for your next date…
Apple Picking
Not an original idea by any means but often considered something you do with “the kids.” And that’s just not true. Apple picking can be such a great way to get to know your date in a fun, scenic environment. Grab some yummy donuts and cider – even stop at a winery on the way. The possibilities are endless and it’s a great excuse to get out of the city for an afternoon and recharge a bit.
Try Apple Dave’s Orchards: only 1-hour from the George Washington Bridge, this is the perfect getaway. Not only do they have a large variety of apples for picking, but they also boast a popular hard cider tasting (pumpkin flavored cider anyone?) with great suggestions for food pairings.
The Headless Horseman
With Sleepy Hollow only an hour away, you literally have Halloween and all its delights at your fingertips. Head out early and see it all.
Take a Sleepy Hollow Cemetery Tour perfect for history buffs and anyone just wanting to experience a scenic, engaging tour featuring Irving Washington’s most famous character – Ichabod Crane. There are day and evening tours (with lanterns!) available.
Be sure to stay for Ashley’s (Director of Recruiting) absolute favorite thing about Fall – The Great Jack O’Lantern Blaze. An 18th-century riverside landscape is completely transformed into various electrifying displays completely made out of pumpkins.
Experience the Pumpkin Zee Bridge, Sea Serpents in The Pumpkin Planetarium, an ode to Jurassic Park (there’s a T-Rex!) and The Headless Horseman himself all in this not-to-be-missed Halloween spectacle.
It sells out fast, so don’t wait to book your tickets. You won’t regret it!
Grilled Cheese and Whiskey
This is New York City, after all. There are more Fall activities than you could ever imagine. And delicious treats to go along with it.
Take Noorman’s Kil, for example. Located in Brooklyn, this restaurant features one of the most impressive whiskey collections in NYC. Plus, this spot – located in the old Art Land Space – features an assortment of gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches and rotating beers on tap and other spirits. This bar is a great mix of modern and traditional with a large, garden backyard. Talk about a unique and fun date!
Some of our other favorite NYC activities include a walk in Central Park with a delicious cookie from Levain Bakery. The Central Park Zoo is also perfect this time of year. The cool weather makes it easy to explore the zoo’s wildlife and perfect for an afternoon date on a Saturday or Sunday.
Cozy Up
Of course, we don’t want to forget that sometimes the best Fall traditions can happen with your date, without leaving your (or their) apartment!
Uncover your inner chef by making a homemade chili, stew or soup and inviting your date over. Try out your baking skills by baking a pie together or pumpkin cookies (pumpkin anything really!). Be sure to grab your favorite red wine or craft beer – there are some awesome pumpkin options. (Can you tell we have a thing for pumpkin?). Then settle in and watch a scary movie together.
Remember, Fall can be a great opportunity to connect and grow with someone. Don’t be afraid to suggest a fun outing or day trip together. It can be a great way to break away from the standard dinner and drinks and also helps facilitate conversation and you get to know the person from a new angle.
