It’s the holiday season! And with that comes, what seems like, a whole month of get togethers, dinners, and parties. Whether it’s a Christmas party, preparing for Hanukkah, or a fun holiday get together with friends or coworkers – I think we can all agree it’s quite a magical time in the city.
And these holiday parties are a great time for dating and meeting new people.
Here are a few ways to make it the best December yet…
Feeling Festive?
We know you are! Say, “yes!” to those invites. It can be easy to isolate but holiday parties are the best opportunities to reconnect with friends, meet someone new, and de-stress from a busy workday.
Be sure to sit with an inviting posture and make eye contact. Most importantly? Don’t talk about work so much. Try and bring up a more engaging topic – maybe your favorite holiday memory or movie. What’s your favorite thing to see for the holidays in New York?
Be A Standout
Did you know that the best conversation starter is on you? Let me explain…
Before you head out, choose a fun accessory: a great pair of earrings, a fun tie, your favorite watch, a colorful dress , etc.
These “conversation pieces” do just that – give people the opportunity to begin a conversation with you – in a real way. Try it out and let us know how it goes!
Here’s another great way to be a holiday party standout – be fashionably early.
When you arrive early you get to chat with the hosts on a more personable level. Plus, they will tend to introduce you to the arriving guests, instead of having that awkward moment at the door. Trust us. This is a good one.
Date Time
We’ve got you covered. Here are some of our favorite places for your next date…
Rolf’s German Restaurant is literally exploding with Christmas. You have to experience it, even if it’s just for one drink. Then decide to head out on a tour to try the best mulled wine in the city. Make a list of 3 or 4 places and set out! Your date will love it.
You definitely have to ice skate but we recommend getting your skate in Central Park. It’s much quieter while having the old school vibe of being surrounded by nature while still being able to see the booming NYC skyline peek out over the trees.
Sometimes it feels good to dress up and experience the city in all its holiday glory. So put on that velvet dress or that tailored suit and head out! Have a nice dinner and then head to the Radio City Christmas Spectacular or The Nutcracker with the New York City Ballet. That’s just as romantic as it gets, really.
Ready to go to another borough with that special someone?
Try the Holiday Train Show at The New York Botanical Garden or The Dyker Heights Christmas lights!
Be sure to let us know how it all goes this December! We love hearing from you. Did you go to Rolf’s and love it? Did you say “yes” to more holiday get-togethers and feel more festive and confident?
